ASTM Standard | SEI Certified

ASTM International is a globally recognized leader in the development and testing standards for manufacturers to meet. Today, over 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to ensure product quality, enhance health and safety, and build consumer confidence. Volunteer professionals in a variety of disciplines including biomechanics, medicine, and material sciences maintain and review the standards twice annually and recommend modifications based on the latest in technological advancements.

Beyond standards development, ASTM offers certification through their subsidiary, the Safety Equipment Institute. SEI coordinates and administers product certification programs. They determine which standard is best for the product; audit the factory, manufacturing process and procedures; qualify the testing laboratories; and conduct product checks throughout the year. SEI only grants certification to products that pass all of their stringent requirements.

In order to receive SEI certification, helmet models must also meet the requirements of ASTM standard F1163-15 for Equestrian helmets, one of which is the rigorous impact testing requirements. This includes 4 tested impacts, consisting of dropping the helmet from 6 feet onto various anvils and at various angles.
